I discovered yoga in South America ten years ago and have been practicing ever since. I have a passion for keeping active being it trapeze, corde de lisse or dance but have found yoga is the thing that gives me both physical strength but also helps me to create a sense of mental peace and calmness.
What is your fitness background?
I have always loved movement and have spent a lot of my life exploring capoeira, dance, and aerial silks and trapeze and practised yoga for over ten years in many different styles. Now it is mainly yoga; I love the strength I gain while maintaining flexibility. It is a holistic practice for body and mind and I love the calm and sense of peace yoga brings. I have a 500hour certificate and love teaching and practising.
What do you do when you are not instructing at Boxercise Bootcamp?
when not working I take yoga classes or practice at home. I love to be outside in nature, walking and cycling and I am a mum of two boys.
What is the benefit of yoga?
Yoga complements other exercise. I think it is important to stretch the body as well as building muscle although it will also build strength. It helps to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which helps you relax. It is a great way to unwind and a regular practice starts to have an impact on your whole life. It has totally changed my life and I love to share this with others.
